Dr. Edwin L. Parsley, D.O.

Dr. Parsley grew up in Oklahoma. He graduated from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in 1984 with a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy, Summa Cum Laude, earning honors including the Eli Lilly and Company Achievement Award and election as President of the Rho Chi Pharmacy Honor Society.

Rather than practicing pharmacy, he continued his training in medicine. He entered Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine and graduated in 1988, second in a class of seventy-five, with a 3.88 GPA. He was named to the Dean's List every year and awarded the Scott Silver Memorial Microbiology Award.

After a transitional internship at Flint Osteopathic Hospital in Michigan, Dr. Parsley completed his internal medicine residency at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston from 1989 to 1992, then served as Chief Medical Resident. He completed his fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at UT Houston from 1993 to 1996.

He joined the UT Houston faculty as Assistant Professor of Medicine in 1996 and spent the next decade leading intensive care medicine at Memorial Hermann Hospital, one of the largest teaching hospitals in Texas. As Medical Director of the Medical Intensive Care Unit from 2000 to 2005, he oversaw a service with more than 200 admissions per month.

During this period he also directed the hospital's Pulmonary Function Laboratory and Respiratory Care Services, taught pulmonary and critical care fellows, internal medicine residents, and medical students, and conducted research on pulmonary complications of scleroderma.

His clinical research contributed to the pivotal New England Journal of Medicine trial on cyclophosphamide for scleroderma lung disease, published in 2006. He was named Physician of the Year at Memorial Hermann Hospital in 2003.

In October 2016, Dr. Parsley opened Aesthetica Med Spa of San Diego on Camino del Rio South. The practice offers aesthetic treatments including injectable neurotoxins, hyaluronic acid and other fillers, radiofrequency microneedling, laser and light-based therapies, ultrasonic treatments, lipolysis with CoolSculpting and Emsculpt, and deoxycholic acid injections.

Dr. Parsley personally administers all injectable procedures and directly oversees every treatment provided.

His practice at Aesthetica has since informed the entire development trajectory of Conformational Aesthetics. Every treatment in the Conforma line reflects a clinical problem Dr. Parsley encountered in his own patients — most notably, patients who considered Kybella or in-office fat-reduction procedures but chose not to pursue them because of cost, downtime, or the injection experience itself.

His pharmaceutical background made him uniquely equipped to answer that question. He knew what clinical evidence looked like. He knew what safety monitoring required. He knew where the boundary sat between marketing claims and defensible science.

Working with a research laboratory in South Korea, Dr. Parsley identified a proprietary delivery technology capable of restructuring active molecules at the nano scale — small enough to pass through the skin barrier and reach the tissue layers where the actives could actually work.

Every formula in the Conformational Aesthetics line is developed and reviewed under the same clinical trial standards Dr. Parsley applies to his ongoing pharmaceutical drug development work.
